The PNNAG Challenge

Newsflash!! Linda Storvik is offering a surprise prize for the Guild Favorite Challenge entry! So be sure to bring your entry to the September 17 meeting where attendees will vote for their favorite Challenge entry.

The purpose of the Challenge is to
  • Encourage interaction, participation, and sharing throughout the guild.
  • Push people outside of their creation comfort zone.
  • Offer members more casual way to share their work than in a formal exhibit or show.
  • Have fun!

Works for the Challenge may be exquisitely finished pieces, something made in a weekend, or sketch-like, experimental, or improvisational.

Instructions
  1. Pick an inspiration packet that speaks to you.
  2. Using the materials in the baggie as your inspiration, create something—anything!—to share at the September Meeting. Make something from just the materials in the baggie, use the materials as a guide for the colors you use in other materials, or incorporate the swatches into your piece. You can use your own materials or find more of the swatch materials in the rummage sale leftovers in the PNNAG Office (no promises though...there may or may not be more of the same material). Don’t be constrained by what the swatches are made of; for example, if they are all fabric, don’t feel you have to sew something—use the fabric to help you determine the color of yarn(s) you use to knit something.
  3. Email Christina Vaule or write the following information on a piece of paper:
  • Your name
  • A brief description of your item, including dimensions.
  • How you used the swatch materials as an inspiration for your piece.
4. Bring your piece, along with the swatch materials (if they are not actually in your piece) and the form with description (if you didn’t email info to Christina), to the September Meeting. We’ll have a table at the meeting where you can share what you’ve made with the rest of the guild.

Your piece does not need to be finished for you to share it!
