“Time to Dye with Fungi.” You have probably heard of mushrooms for culinary dishes, but have you ever considered them for other purposes? Outside of eating them, mushrooms can be used to create a unique dye palette as well. Every color of the rainbow can be achieved through various mushrooms and dye techniques, and I am here to share some of this with you.
My name is Marion Richards and I am originally from southern Oregon, and currently reside just outside of Seattle. I have been dyeing with different natural dyes for the past 5 years. Growing a dye plant garden and foraging dye mushrooms are a continual passion of mine. I decided to take the deep dive and try a mushroom dyeing class through my local mushroom club. I have since taught dye classes through our mushroom club, offered talks and demos through my rug hooking guild, demos at a local art council, and have given demonstrations with the Mountaineers and at our annual mushroom shows. The rest is history, but dreaming of colors and using them for various fiber art projects has now taken the center focus of my path and I hope to share that passion with others!
